Please join us for the First! Northeast TN Farm Tour – Farm Fresh Appalachia
Who are we? Farm Fresh Appalachia is a multi-organizational farm promotion program funded through the USDA, and includes the Appalachian RC&D Council, Boone Street Market, Appalachian Sustainable Development, and the Northeast TN Tourism Association.
We will be hosting the first ever Farm Tour in our region, with the goal of making this a regular yearly event that will cross state lines and encompass the Central Highlands Region – both Northeast TN and Southwest VA. The first branch of the tour will take place in Northeast TN on Saturday, June 23rd from 1-5pm. The Virginia branch of the tour will take place the following Saturday, June 30th.
The goal of the Northeast TN Farm Tour is to get folks more engaged in our local food system and to further support our farming community. We would love to have your farm join us on this adventure!
The Farm Tour will be a driving tour like that hosted in the North Carolina by the Carolina Farm Stewardship Association. Participants will purchase a ticket per car load, will be provided with a booklet highlighting each farm on the route, a map, and a schedule of events.
Farms will be provided with a first-aid kit, volunteer support as needed, and road signs.
If you decide to participate, this would be the perfect opportunity to boost on-farm sales and support your own agri-tourism ventures. Participation is free to you and will include heavy marketing on our part. We will have assigned volunteers at each farm and a County Farm Tour Coordinator at your call the day of the event.
Important questions to ask yourself before making your decision:
Do you have enough parking to accommodate multiple vehicles at once?
Do you have bathroom facilities that can be used by the public? (if not, we may be able to accommodate)
Things to keep in mind, should you decide to join us:
What kind of programming can you offer that will further support your farm? Do you have a set on-farm tour that you have done in the past?
Do you have farm sourced products you can sell to visitors?
Is your farm “family-friendly”?
Do you have something special to offer as a draw to families with children?
I will need a short one paragraph farm bio to add to marketing publications, including online presence on the Northeast TN Tourism Association website. This is something I can do for you given the right information.

We would like to get the marketing pieces out to the pubic as soon as possible. If you would like to be a participating farm, we will need your confirmation no later than May 18th.
If you would like to have your farm featured along the tour, please contact:
