A catered dinner prepared by Chef Mary Goldman was one of the silent auction items at the Market to Mansion fundraiser in September. After a serious bidding contest between several attendees, Ed and Joan Ruch came out the victors.
The Ruchs chose to host friends for the dinner in their beautiful log home on November 17. The meal began with a spring mix salad topped with almonds and mandarin oranges followed by Chef Mary’s famous butternut squash soup. The main course featured baked cornish hens with a Beurre Blanc sauce, wild rice and steamed broccoli picked fresh that day at Hope Farms with homemade yeast rolls. Dessert was fresh baked pound cake with homemade vanilla ice cream.
Becky Mallory of Hope Farms and Heather Youngblood of Summerfield Herb Farm, volunteered to help Chef Mary prepare and serve the meal. It was a fun evening for all! Many thanks to the Ruchs for their support of Depot Street Farmers Market!
